One of my favorite things to do throughout the week is drive over to Melrose place and spend the morning sipping lattes. Black and white, palms, neutral clothing, and marble.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend with loved ones. It was strange for me being without my large family, but I still had a nice day with friends. There's always room for new traditions, right?

Anyways, here's a mood board of what's inspiring me this week. I'm going to try and do this to set my intentions for the days ahead and create a cohesive visual collection of images and words representing how I feel.

This week I'm really interested in mountain ranges and micron pen art in moleskines. I came across this quote by r.m. drake  that reads:

"Fall deeply into something indefinable.
Believe me, it is a beautiful thing.
Let it grow inside you until it becomes you,
and then let it grow some more.

And when the indefinable becomes the familiar,
then I urge you to keep going, to keep finding,
there will always be more.
that is your role, to keep on experiencing yourself
until you know so much
that it terrifies you."

I'll leave you with that, what's your mood this week?
Well folks, It's been a while hasn't it?

I just finished my all my finals at school, and I've been living like a vampire. The past few weeks have consisted of me sleeping for very few hours each night and drinking far too much coffee to finish all of my work.

In between this I managed to squeeze my two jobs in there too, I've started giving tours at my school, and I totally love it! I helped out at FIDM's open house on Friday, (think 800 very excited high school students) and while I may have never talked so much in my life, it was definitely a positive experience.

Ah, I hate to brag, but things are just going so well. Do you ever have those moments where for a brief second time stops and you realize everything in your life is exactly how it should be? Try and hold onto that.

Now that all of my final projects are finished, I thought I would share some of what I've been working on!

For a publishing class, I had to conceptualize and design my own magazine. My theme was coffee for obvious reasons, and I'm so excited with how it turned out.

Played around with pattern design for my Computer Illustration final. Avocados are so fun and light.

These probably look weird, but these are finished logo designs. 180 process sketches not pictured.

Lastly, some photos taken for my photography final.

It's crazy to look back on such a short amount of time and see everything I've accomplished. Cheers to three weeks of relaxation before the next round begins.

One of my first homework assignments this year for a publishing class was to explore magazine covers, and choose the ones that I was most attracted to.

You can imagine how hyped I was for this task, seeing as publication design is a field of my craft I'm very interested in. Text, type, and photography...this stuff really gets me going.

I started thinking about what really makes a cover unique. What causes us to see one little piece of information amongst the hundreds of magazines lined on the wall?

For me, it's a layout thats completely different from your usual Cosmo or Glamour. While a lot of commercial women's magazines have a single celebrity on the front surrounded by "100 ways to braid your hair", I'm entranced by magazines that make me feel something.

Maybe it's a publication that reads like a book with a single leaf on the front screaming to be investigated, or handwritten type that's just a pattern without a closer look,  (Channing Tatum isn't so bad either).

Regardless of the vibe, imagery and colors of a magazine cover have to tell a story. Only then can they transform from a flat, shiny photo, into a life imagined.

These are just some of my favorite's at the moment. Some say print is dying out, but I think it's evolving into a completely new era.

Thousands of moving feet packed into the tight grids of skyscrapers and sunsets that bleed into sunrises have inspired a more minimal and organic lifestyle lately. Some things just take time.
